Joy Reflected on Women Of Substance Radio!

Joy Reflected on Women Of Substance Radio!

I’m pleased to be among the chosen female artists for the May themed show: “Celebrating Motherhood” on Women of Substance Radio. The show airs every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday in the month of May.

My song Joy Reflected is a celtic inspired song that came to me as I walked in the woods of Cumberland, calling to Mother Nature to comfort me. It grew into a song in celebration of my mother, Audrey Finch, who raised five children as a single mother and to whom I am forever grateful for my rich childhood.

This features me on vocals, penny whistle and viola; Dale Graham on harp; and Judy Norbury on dulcimer. It was recorded on Tease For Two, my first recording with Norbury & Finch in 2000.

Here’s where to listen:

Jorge Triana and Joanna Finch Jazz It

March 13th, 2013 by admin Categories: Blog, Joanna Finch Jazz, Press No Responses
Jorge Triana and Joanna Finch Jazz It
Since her arrival from Antigua WI to Cuenca one month ago, Canadian singer, recording artist Joanna Finch, (www.joannafinch.ca) has begun performing with Maestro Jorge Traina (http://www.myspace.com/jorgeltriana ) a Cuban jazz and classical guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and teacher. Their common language is music, and romantic music at that. A versatile, multi-instrumentalist with a sinuous voice, Joanna’s mastery of vocal sounds and styles take you on an aural journey from a 1940’s jazz bandstand, to modern funk and blues and into a world of natural freevoice sounds with vocal improv noises. She is often compared to Diana Krall, Astrid Gilberto and Edith Piaff in her vocal stylings. Presently on tour to Quito with Apu Teatre, where her original compositions and sound effects provide the musical score to Magico Hererra’s exceptional puppet theatre, Joanna is pleased to share the stage with Jorge Triana at Hotel Victoria on March 14.
